I started a series of wall hangings I call Lonely Trees. I've been doing trees like these on shirts for a while but I like how when they're in wall hanging form, they kind of look like windows. Since we have no real trees in our yard, these are good, albeit surreal, substitutes.
I cut into my most precious vintage quilt tops and used my favorite trim, and I'm not even sad about that. I love it when something I've been holding on to forever finally finds its purpose.
Some people meditate. I like to cut out roots and crooked branches.
Then I like to sew around the branchy edges and swirl it in the middle.
I made a new "Home Decor" category on my website where I'll be offering these along with my pillows. I've got tree fever right now and want to stitch a tree to everything.
